Full Moon in Cancer

27°50' Cancer to 27°50' Capricorn

January 17, 2022

6:49 PM EDT

This full moon in Cancer, speak your truth and step into your power and notice how others are doing the same. During the new moon in Capricorn two weeks ago, we may have received some news we hadn't expected--more people resigning from their regular jobs, people we hadn't expected to pass on transitioning from this life to another, relationships ending that we thought were solid, reunions with people we didn't think we'd see, enjoying things we didn't know we would and so on.

Throughout 2021 and continuing until the end of 2022, Saturn, the planet of our structure and institutions in the futuristic sign of Aquarius has been shaken up by rebellious, free-thinking, independent Uranus in slow, steady, materially-comforted Taurus, and we got our last direct hit on December 29, 2021. The final time these two will come closest to squaring off will be late October 2022 and it's likely we'll feel the lingering effects into early 2023. The Great Resignation, or the Great Re-Awakening is aligned to the astrology we've had since 2020--the Saturn/Pluto/Jupiter/Mars conjunction in Capricorn in January 2020, the Saturn-Jupiter conjunction in Aquarius in December 2020 and this Saturn-Uranus square, but I see the Saturn-Uranus square at the heart of The Great Re-Awakening/Resignation. In addition, people have been thinking about their values and relationships and making the necessary changes on a more personal level since Venus entered it's retrograde shadow period (November 17, 2021 - March 1, 2022) and stationed retrograde in Capricorn (December 19, 2021 - January 29, 2022). Those who have tried to hang in there or "ride it out" just can't hang on any longer. These folks are finally accepting that the past is in the past and it isn't coming back. Fears have been faced. so it's time to integrate that into their vision for the future. The changes that have resulted from this re-evaluation are finally becoming real.

This Monday or Tuesday when many people go back to work this week, there will be adjustments. The people who've resigned--their two weeks' notice is up and they are either not working any more or they are wrapping up their final days on the job. Mercury, the planet of communication, learning, technology and travel stationed retrograde at the start of this past weekend, on Friday, January 14th, pulling our focus to these topics.

This full moon is quincunx (an aspect of adjustment) to separating, action-oriented Mars. When co-workers leave (Mars), it's natural for their to be a period where we have to learn (Mercury) how to adjust (quincunx) our communication (Mercury) and how we do our jobs. We might have to log into a different software application (Mercury) that the co-worker was primarily responsible for while covering their duties. When we haven't done something in a while, like using a certain app, it makes us spend more time focusing while we remember how to navigate it to get the task completed. We might have to double check our work to make sure we did it right, or retake a training or dig through our old notes for instructions, for example.

This extra work can be irritating (Mars) as fuck. That discomfort encourages us to change something so that we can resolve the irritation and move towards a state where we can feel more contented. During this full moon, the sun is conjunct transformative, powerful, intense, wealthy Pluto. The irritation (Mars) we feel from the changes (Pluto) at work from people leaving (Mars) that use more of our energy as we take on more work and learn (Mercury) new things is going to wear down (Pluto) our mind-to-mouth/though-to-speech (Mercury) filters so that we find ourselves speaking (Mercury) our truth (Pluto) because we simply don't have the energy to hold it in anymore. When we do share our truth (Pluto), we help ourselves and we help others help us be more true to ourselves so we can live authentically (Sun).

It might be scary to speak up about what you're going through and what you need. You might feel like if you speak up to tell your manager that it's hard to change your regular routine, stop what you're doing and remember or re-learn how to do something in addition to taking on the extra work that you'll be seen as incompetent or complaining and maybe you feel like that will put your job or your performance review at risk. Many companies will just expect you to do the work. They won't automatically give you a pay increase, whether it's temporary or permanent. Ask for it. It might take you some time to come up with your business case to show your value, and how the company is still saving money even with paying you money. Do it anyway. Don't care about the money? Care about caring for yourself more than money? Figure out what that looks like and make your needs known. As a former HR Director and certified Senior HR Professional, I have been on both the giving and receiving side of this and have advised clients on how to navigate this process successfully.

People who have ended relationships are spending their first days and nights alone for the first time in a while in a new way, or they might be settling into their new homes. We'll be looking around, seeing and feeling a lot of emotions. We might be super tired from the confusion and energy we're expending at work. It'll feel stormy. It might actually storm pretty big in some place with this full moon separating from a trine with Neptune. And if it does, we'll find ourselves grateful for the opportunity to retreat to our homes, get cozy and comfort ourselves with food, music, a hot bath and our favorite blanket.

Spiritual Neptune conjunct strategic Pallas in compassionate, unifying Pisces at the point of Thales to the full moon (sextile to the Sun and Trine the Moon), boosted by electric Uranus stationing retrograde, tells us that listening to our intuition will help us tap into healing energy that the collective needs right now and that can help inform our strategy to advocate for our needs in alignment with the kind of activism the zeitgeist demands right now. If it doesn't sound like there's enough energy around this emotional full moon in Cancer, the nodes of the moon are shifting from Gemini and Sagittarius to Taurus and Scorpio the following day. Suffice it to say, there is a lot of change, and a lot of heavy emotions.

When shit gets tough, ask yourself what example you can set for your inner (or actual, or any) child with the actions you take to demonstrate radical self-care. When I'm faced with a difficult situation, I think what I want my "mom" or "grandma" stories to be: I imagine myself in the future years telling a young girl like myself who is looking for guidance how I did the thing, whatever it is--stood up in front of a crowd for public speaking, showed up every day even though it was hard, defined my boundaries, set off on an adventure. Which choice helps you write the narrative you want to live on?

This full moon:

Get quiet and listen to the messages you receive.

Know your worth.

Release your fear.

Speak your truth.

Step into your power.

Start the next chapter.

Practice radical self-care and self-love.

Show up for yourself.

Sun/Moon/Rising Horoscopes:

What's up at home, Aries? Feeling more feels? Self-care for you is at home. Big changes at work and stepping into your power help you shine. You're leading the way this week. Lean on your partner and ask for help, or book a career consultation to help you figure it out. As the nodes shift into Taurus and Scorpio, your focus is shifting to prioritize alignment of your self-worth, values and material resources to support the life you want to live. Read this, the 57th Verse of the Tao Te Ching and then pick up Dr. Wayne Dyer's Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life: Living the Wisdom of the Tao. The audiobook is great and being able to pick up the hardcopy to revisit the lessons is my favorite way to experience these lessons.

57th Verse

If you want to be a great leader,

you must learn to follow the Tao.

Stop trying to control.

Let go of fixed plans and concepts,

and the world will govern itself.

How do I know this is so?

Because in this world,

the greater the restrictions and prohibitions,

the more people are impoverishes;

the more advanced the weapons of state,

the darker the nation;

the more artful and crafty the plan,

the stranger the outcome;

the more laws are posted,

the more thieves appear.

Therefor the sage says:

I take no action and people are reformed.

I enjoy peace and people become honest.

I do nothing and people become rich,

If I keep from imposing on people,

they become themselves.

Time for a vacation or to talk about whether remote work, that international transfer, or professional development/EAP/degree program is possible. If not, listen to that song from the place you wanna be. La Vie en Rose? Learn how to cook what you'd be eating if you were there--Bánh mì and soda chanh? What resources do you need to feel supported and who/where can you find them? What do you need to change about your relationship to money and debt and where can you get the support to figure out what you can take action on? If you're trying to figure out the best next location, a locational astrology consultation might help you narrow it down and make the right choice for what you're trying to accomplish. As the north node shifts into your first house, the spotlight is on you, your body and how you show up in the world. Time to follow your heart and put yourself first.

You are so smart and capable. Definitely speak up to get that bag. You are worthy. It's time to invest in yourself. Make sure you treat yourself how you want to be treated. If you need help articulating your needs, check in with your support network. You deserve every good thing that comes your way. Big things are happening in your career and public life this year so that you can take what you've been studying and put it into action. The spotlight that the north node has put on you over the past 18 months is now pulling your focus to the behind the scenes work you can do to support yourself, and how you can tap into the collective consciousness to align your personal goals with supporting those who need the help you can offer. Book a career consultation if you're looking for guidance on how to navigate if things are feeling ambiguous.

Be extra kind to yourself. The changes in your relationships are asking you to trust yourself first and foremost and also be vulnerable at the same time. As Brene Brown says: "Strong Back, Soft Front, Wild Heart." You are learning the meaning of this and it might feel like it's hitting close to home right now. When relationships transform or end, opening up again and being vulnerable is the hardest thing to do. Once we trust ourselves, we can be strong enough to be vulnerable again. That vulnerability allows us to let in others and invite love back in knowing no love and no part of ourselves is lost when we follow our wild hearts. No one can ever hurt you that way again. If the stress is affecting your daily routine or your health, do what you gotta do to make the changes that are going to make you feel safe and secure. As the north node shifts into Taurus, you're being asked to focus on your hopes and dreams, your friends, network, people who support your work, the money you get from your career and the social causes you fight for. You can go with flow, so use that super power to build the supportive structures you need and have the courage to stand in your truth. We exhale often. Don't forget to inhale. If this resonates with you, you might just love curling up with Braving the Wildnerness: The Quest for True Belonging and the Courage to Stand Alone by Brene Brown or booking a relationship consultation to gain clarity around the deep transformation you've been going through and how to harness your power as a result. After that, you might want to take what you learn and go deeper with a certified coach like Karen Levy or explore face reading with Wendy Wywrot.

Time for rest, retreat, healings and tapping into the collective energy. As the north node shift into Taurus, the next 18 months pulls you toward the career you've been working towards. Since you'll have time to think about what you want this to look like, consider: What fuels your joy? How can your pleasure help others? How can your shine and talents help people who are suffering or less privileged than you are? How can you use your platform, creativity and visibility to demonstrate the kind of work (maybe it'll be a good, fun work out, too?) that's needed to make the world a better place? How can your visibility bring visibility and awareness to the causes you care most about that don't get enough attention? It might be a good time to check out check out Your Body is Not an Apology Workbook: Tools for Living Radical Self-Love by Sonya Renee Taylor, get in touch with Mica at Mythos & Mater for a holistic healing consultation and then book a consultation for us to illuminate your path forward.

Big changes with your creative projects or children are finally getting support and recognition from your network and community just like you've been dreaming about, and this project has the potential to make a lasting impact that benefits society. Savor. Every. Moment. Drink in the power boost that joy and pleasure afford you, but take action to do something good with it because the wind is at your back so you might be tempted to let the energy flow through you instead of harnessing it. Harness the energy! Your friends want to show up to support you now, so share your joy with them. As the north node moves into Taurus, you're being asked to go through the Eat, Pray Love journey: travel, study, put any legal matters to rest and publish your masterpiece. This full moon, lean into how putting your own safety mask on support the people and projects you care about most. If you want to put the work into yourself, while to embracing play, joy, pleasure and making the world a better place at the same time, check out Pleasure Activism by Adrienne Marie Brown or book a time for us to strategize.

Your home and family life have been going through some really intense and deeply transformative shifts, and this is another activation and opportunity for release. If you're looking for more balance, know that asking your ancestors and angels for support will give you the strength you need to show up as the caring voice of reason that the world so desperately is needing. Libra, you have an amazing superpower see the world differently, to turn the world upside down and inside out until the balance and harmony that is needed is achieved. You're the bridge, the peacemaker and the one who can bring opposing sides to the together. Why not be the one who speaks up for a 4 Day Work Week or hell, a 2 or 3 Day Work Week? Why not be the one who speaks up to say it might be time to let people work remotely or hybrid at their choosing instead of forcing people to do what the company thinks is best? What radical ideas do you have about how people can get the resources they need and what can you do to support that cause? Standing up for yourself, others, or for workers rights doesn't mean there's going to be an altercation. Take action to say what needs to be said, respectfully. You're so good with your words you know how to make sure they don't sound like fighting words while standing in your truth and doing the right thing. As the north node moves into Taurus, you're being asked to sort through the stuff we'd rather not talk about with other people--like psychological "stuff," sex, debts, shared money or occult/magical practices like astrology--and ask for the support that you need. If all this change and energy feels uncomfortable, a forecast consultation can help put your mind at ease by seeing how to take it one step at a time, or perhaps you'll be interested in exploring whether regular 1-1 somatic experiencing sessions with a wonderful practitioner like Denise Springer would be supportive for you, or check out some of the resources on her website.

This full moon is highlighting the transformative power of your voice to help teach others how to raise the bar, raise their vibration, and expose yourself and others to ideas, places and ways of living that are different from what you're accustomed to. You might be ready for an adventure whether it's around the world or through a book, movie or diving into DuoLingo. How are you releasing that which insulates you in order to build bridges and step outside your comfort zone? You might be thinking about picking up White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo or how about to have the conversation to pass it or a similar good read along to a friend who is ready for that kind of transformation. If you're ready for your next adventure, whether it's around the world or your neighborhood, book a locational consultation for insights on what that might look like.

Take that fire under your butt and put it into the work you're doing about how and where you feel valued and what kind of support you need from outside of yourself. It's a great time to find a therapist and release all that's been on your mind and got you feeling fired up, especially if you're feeling stuck at home. If you can find some peace at home through meditation or by spending time in whatever outdoor space you have close to home, that can help you tap into the divine insight you need to transform your relationship to your money and sense of self-worth. You are worthy just because you are alive. You don't need to do anything. You don't need to prove yourself. You deserve to be able to provide for yourself and you're already immensely wealthy in ways you may not realize or aren't recognized by society today. If you're struggling, help is out there when you're ready to ask for it. You are loved. You are appreciated. This too shall pass. Play the lotto, who knows, you might get lucky, and if not, maybe you can make it a fun trip to the store. Play it safe on the road but take a chance on loving yourself. If you're thinking of alternative systems of money, check out this article on the 8 forms of capital from Appleseed Permaculture. If you're curious what the stars have to say about how you can change your relationship to money or self-worth, book an astrology consultation.

The sun is shining on and through you, and you're finally getting a glimpse of your sparkle being reflected back to you through your romantic or business partnerships, or perhaps even through that "frienemy." Tap into the collective dream and consider how to use your voice, your talents and partnerships to take action for the greater good and those with less privilege. If you've been struggling, now's the time to take action behind the scenes to set up the support structures you need. Perhaps it means finding a way to (safely, if the weather's bad!) go for a walk around your neighborhood so that you can clear your mind. Maybe you're learning more about your spirituality and are feeling like you're ready to embody it or channel that energy through yoga. Be kind to yourself because all the changes you've been going through take a ton of energy. You're transforming into a whole new person and those that love you understand that you're growth can't be stopped. Be sure to use your new found power and position for good. A kind smile and "good morning" to a stranger you encounter on your walk might make a world of difference. As the north node shifts into Taurus, your focus for the next 18 months is going to be on your joy, pleasure and creativity. If you haven't already, check out Pleasure Activism by Adrienne Marie Brown and 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene and then book an astrology consultation to chart your next steps.

You've been doing the work behind the scenes for some time now, and this full moon, you're reminded to balance your behind the scenes dream it/build it project to save the future of the world with the practical everyday rituals you need to do to take care of you today so you can continue to save humanity. You have probably been tapping into the collective unconscious' values. Keeping up with the constant reevaluation of what these values or trends have been over the past few years, and especially as of late, has been exhausting. If you haven't already, you might find The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma by Bessel van der Kolk, M.D. or a similar book helpful during this lunation. If there's something going with your body or energy that you can't put your finger on, you might explore distance reiki or Shiva Murti sessions with powerful healer Karen R. Levy. When we do dream work, psychological work or work to support those who are suffering, it's important to make sure we're putting our own life mask on first so that we can continue to show up for ourselves and others. As the north node shifts into Taurus, you're being asked to get your house in order. Over the next 18 months, you'll be thinking about what and where home is and how that's impacted by changes in your career. Ancestor work will support you if you need it. Book a locational astrology consultation and we can find you some places to explore if you're thinking about moving.

This full moon is all about your creativity, joy, pleasure and maybe even a little romance. Remember, romance does not need to be with another person! What does it mean to you?
