The 2021 in Review Series allows us to reflect on the horoscopes from the past year. Here's the horoscope originally posted on Instagram:
Juneteenth- June 19, 2021. The first federally recognized Juneteenth. How are you commemorating this day? I have spent a lot of time in self-care and reflection on how we got here and how systems of power and oppression simultaneously benefit and harm me and most people. Although Juneteenth marks the day enslaved people in Texas were informed of emancipation, due to the media and recent events, I can’t help but tie it to all the ways violence has been perpetrated against black and brown bodies during slavery and since “emancipation.” There are so many ways in which we still need to be emancipated and to emancipate ourselves. In what ways do you feel free? In what ways do you maintain and reinforce systems of power, oppression, capitalism, colonialism and patriarchy? What can you do to challenge and transform these systems by leading from where you’re at right now? I invite you to consider some of what I’ve shared. I’d love if you will comment on what has come up for you on this day, past or present and what you can do to challenge the systems in which you participate so that the right, the good, the ethical takes the lead.
